She isn't really a true companion but she does play a key roll in some important story lines. I liked Rose well enough but Jackie just annoyed me. She's kind of oblivious to everything going around.
She does have some funny one-liners though.

Hahaha, Oh Jackie. My sister hates her too. I couldn't get her to watch almost any of S1 with me because of it.
